Head of Fermentation

The successful candidate will be managing the activities of a team of scientists and technicians focused on yeast and bacterial fermentation processes. The position reports directly to the Director of Research and Development.
" Management of the internal research projects and of the group's fermentation core services.
" Active management of the project pipeline to ensure resources are assigned and prioritized to deliver commercial success.
" Design, implementation and interpretation of experiments relating to the production of selected microorganisms, in order to answer the problems entrusted to you.
" Scientific and technical watch in the field of biotechnology engineering in relation to the activities of the competence center and the group's strategy.
" Participation in the development of laboratory tools to provide equipment integrating the problems encountered on an industrial scale.
" Management and training of a large team (more than 30 people) of high-level scientists, across varying experience levels.
" Active participation in the life of the laboratory by ensuring missions of collective interest.
" Represent the company by participating and communicating in congresses and scientific meetings.
" Manage key partnerships to be externally developed and work closely with the different BUs to propose an optimized structure complementary to the existing ones.
" Implement the corresponding R&D investments/budget necessary to continue developing company's present in fermentation.
" PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Enzymology, Biochemistry or related discipline
" 20 years industrial production experience and advanced expertise in fermentation
" Long managerial experience (30 people) and leadership
" Strong management and interpersonal skills, determined with team spirit mind-set
" Strong strategic and entrepreunarial mindset
" Experience in working with different capacity lab scale fermenters and subsequent downstream processing
" Good sense of organization, analysis and autonomy
" A professional level of English is required. Basic French and motivation to train is necessary
